What is the meaning of water baptism?
If it could be summarized in one word, it would be identification. In Bible times, baptism was a part of a cleansing process and as identifying an individual with a group or belief system. By Jesus’ day, baptism was performed for repentance. This was the case of John the Baptist, but also as a way of identification.
Who should get baptized?
Because baptism is a declaration of faith, we believe that each person must understand that decision; therefore, we believe that those aged 10 and up can understand the choice to be baptized in water.
How should I get baptized?
In the original language of the Bible, baptize means “to dip, plunge, immerse.” In Romans 6:4 and Colossians 2:12, baptism is referred to as a burial, and involves being raised to walk in new way of life. That is why we believe and practice baptism by immersion under water.
